DestinyBlue is hosting a giveaway here:  100K Watchers - Friendship Giveaway! (+print sale)100,000. wow. That's a big number, and I know it can be easy to look at the statistics and just see numbers, but each number is a real person, who chose to click watch because they enjoyed my art. It makes me really warm inside, but it got me thinking of what I really value in you guys, it's not the number, it's the person, the interaction, I love to hear your stories, know what connections you feel with my art, get feedback on how you think I could do better, or what you enjoyed in a new piece. The total number is irrelevant if I never get to know any of you. I honestly feel many of you are friends rather than 'watchers' I wish I could give back to each of your what you've given to me, I know that's not possible, but it got me thinking that I could promoto a bit of appreciation between friends round these parts  So I offer:

Friendship Giveaway! Win prints for you and your friend!

and they're encouraging her followers to spread the love by dedicating the giveaway journal to a friend as well as chose a piece from their gallery that we think our friend would like (if we win, our friend gets the print. More rules in her journal), and immediately by-MK came to mind. So without further ado:

Dear Maria,

You are one of the first people I connected with on dA four years ago. I was going through a lot of changes in my own life, and you were going through some hard times, too. Even though we were (and still are) so far away from each other, we still keep in contact. You are so patient with me even when it takes me a long time to reply to you. You are so kind even though life has been hard, and you show me a different way of looking at things. You have drawn me so many beautiful gifts, and I wasn't even expecting them. Thank you for always sticking by me. You're a great friend and such a beautiful person. I hope that somehow, someday, we can meet. I'd love to see Denmark, or if you ever come to California, I would love to show you the beautiful beaches here. :huggle:

I'm not sure what colors you like, but this piece makes me think of you:
Out of the Woods by DestinyBlue
You have been through so much, but this is my hope for you: that no matter what you go through, no matter how hard life is, that you are always able to make it to the other side and out into the light. And when you're in the dark parts in life, I may not be able to lead you out, but I'll stand beside you as best I can even from across the world.

There are a lot of pieces in DestinyBlue's gallery that speak to me, and it was hard to narrow it down to just one, but in the end, I choose this one:
Tiger Tiger by DestinyBlue
I've been going through some really stressful things lately (mostly school related), and six people I know have died this past year, which is a record in my own experience. An especially painful loss happened a month ago, and it's still hard to process that my beautiful friend isn't here anymore. This piece reminds me that I am strong, I am resilient, and my life will not always be this hard or this dark. There is goodness in my life now and there is light ahead. And I've got light in me, too, shining out for others to see.

Thanks for this giveaway, DestinyBlue! <3

  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt? Four years?

  2. What does your username mean? DNA is my nickname, and I like to write, and I'm female, so Authoress.

  3. Describe yourself in three words. Creative, compassionate, sentimental

  4. Are you left or right handed? Right

  5. What was your first deviation? Bendict Cumberbatch Sketches

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create? Portraits, collarbone up; also poetry

  7. If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? I love things that are very loose and free-spirited- I can't do things like Zentangle. I'd like to have the kind of movement and uninhibited feeling that style has

  8. What was your first favourite? I don't evan know, that's forever ago and too far back in my favourites.

  9. What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? Portraits.

  10. Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist? Maybe Pascal Campion. His artwork makes me feel happy and relaxed.

  11. If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? My friends by-MK and Resurrectingskies

  12. How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? Both of the wonderful people above have been so kind to me and have taught me so much. I treasure our conversations and the gifts they've given me both in their friendship and the actual objects they've made/given me. <3

  13. What are your preferred tools to create art? Copic markers, micron pens, coloured pencils, regular & mechanical pencils, charcoal, and acrylic paint.

  14. What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? I like places out in nature where it's quiet and not a lot of people, be that the beach or mountains. But I feel like music inspires me more than my visual surroundings.

  15. What is your favourite DeviantArt memory? All of the conversations with Maria and Nat. Oh and also the contest I won. That was pretty cool.

Hello, Friends!

1 min read
How are you all?

I haven't talked to y'all in a while. I hope you're doing well! I've been crazy busy with school, work, and volunteer teaching. And last week I decided to join not one but TWO school clubs on top of it all. Thus I haven't really done any artwork, but I'm hoping to change that soon.

Despite being so busy, I really don't have a lot to say to you all, sooo... I guess this is it?

Have a lovely day!

A friend showed me deviantArt several years ago, probably around the time it was founded. However, I didn't get my own account until the summer before I started collage. I was relatively new to the concept about fandoms, but I didn't join any art groups initially. I actually joined SixWordStories and they were so lovely and gracious to me there (I promise I'll get back into submitting things!) I met SilverInkblot, whose work is featured below, shortly after and began a friendship that has opened my eyes to different kinds of writing. I met some other lovely artists and writers including curlscat, impishtubist, LetsSaveTheUniverseGwydion-chanby-MK, Bilou020285, NPCbot, NinjaUnicorn13, superfizz, ha-liona, celina-tamwood, SayuriMVRomei, goia91, CraZiiCacTuz, and so many others who have taught me so much as well (and whose work is featured here)
Drowning in Reverse II          vii. I still have your phone.

I had to look at it every day on the ride to school. But it still hurt a little less than the pitying glances cast my way when no one thought I was looking.
          v. The funeral was on a beautiful, balmy, sunny day and somehow that made it all the worse. The wind would pick up a little and ruffle your goldspun hair and I could hope, just for a moment, that you were still here. That the hollow thumping in my chest would be solid again. That we could still have a future, a family, a wire terrier puppy with an oversized backyard to play in, that we could have all those things. Together.

songs shimmering out
from the centers of your bones,
nor with words coursing
through your bloodstream, attached to red cells
like oxygen.
Other worlds do not threaten to burst
the edges of your dreams
into daylight, demanding
to be called Reality
and your conscious is so firmly rooted in your
own brain that you are not tortured
with the understanding of situations you aren't in.
No, none of this is yours, dearest.
Instead, you have fireworks
in your synapses,
gears pulling your eyes
open to see things not even Dr. Seuss
could imagine.
You breathe numbers from the air and spit
them back out in another form,
stored in a filing cabinet of a hippocampus
with every periodical you've read, dyslexia twisting
them to something
greater than before.
Your reality is layered with
could be-s and will be-s and should be-s
and big Change-The-World
ghosts
of those who haven't been born
yet.
No, you are not a writer--
you're better.

More recently, I met the lovely Resurrectingskies  whom I RP with privately here. I've had so much fun getting to know her and our characters.

This is basically a love letter to you all saying how much I love and appreciate your friendship through the past 4 years. I can't wait to see where the future takes us.

Hey, everyone!

Sorry I haven't been on. I'm in my last semester of community college (getting my AA in University Studies: Social Sciences), transferring to a full-on university in the fall, helping a support group for kids going through big life transitions (death of a loved one, divorce, etc.), volunteering in my church nursery on Sundays, and am getting all the paperwork done for my first job. I'll be an aide at a nursery school/day care center, depending on where you live. Basically it's infant-five years old. :)

I've been on tumblr a lot. RPing mostly... Haven't done a whole lot of writing outside that, though, or drawing because of on-going wrist problems. I'll try to get around to uploading what little I've done soon, though, as well as some pics from when I was in Okinawa last year since I finally got them from my cousin.

I can't think of anything else... My life sounds like it's all adult-and-proper... weird. <.<' I'm really not all that together. XD

Um, if y'all have any questions, let me know!
